About Me

I’m a fully qualified counsellor providing therapy for adults and young people. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I’m an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS), abiding by their code of ethics and I undertake regular supervision in accordance with the requirements of my professional body.

I hold full liability insurance and an enhanced DBS for working with vulnerable adults and children.

As well as counselling in private practice, I have worked with a number of charities; Network Counselling, Second Step (supporting clients dealing with addiction and homelessness) and Cruse Bereavement, counselling adults from all walks of life. My experience with Cruse gave me an in-depth understanding of loss and grief and the impact of it on all aspects of a person’s life. I’ve worked with young people in universities all over the country and have counselled children aged 11-18 in school. For me, every time, it’s an absolute privilege to be granted trust and let into someone’s world. I don’t underestimate what this takes.

My Approach

My approach is ‘person-centred’ which puts the relationship between us at the heart of our work together, but I am trained to draw on a variety of skills and theories that best suit you. Every person is unique and so I tailor my approach to each individual client. I work with clients for as long (or short) as they need. I can bring in frameworks and creative practices (for when words don’t come easily) to help us explore and make sense of what’s going on for you. We can seek to understand where difficulties come from, what’s keeping you stuck, and look at how to move forward. I can work with you to find your own strategies that help you cope with challenges or look at how to make change. It might be that our work together is about telling your story (and having it heard) or developing greater self-acceptance and finding out what it means to ‘be you’.

Your journey is unique, but you don’t have to walk it alone
